“Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.”
We knew our hard work has paid off with the response that we got. We then organised a volunteers’ selection process from which we expected to recruit 10-12 ‘student teachers’. The volunteers were not just chosen on the basis of their academic skills but for qualities like self-confidence, communication skills and their devotion towards our plan of action. First of all, we asked the interested children if they would be able to devote a whole month for this proposition. There was an amazingly enthusiastic response so a second method of selection was used. In this, the comprehending and expression skills were tested. A few paragraphs long extract was asked to be explained by the different students. The students who performed well in this exercise were chosen as volunteers. And now, we can get down to business!
